Passports Geography Club
Passports Club :: A Geography Co-op
Kids love learning about other countries. We recently started a homeschool geography club or cooperative to provide an opportunity for our kiddos to share what they've learned, gain exposure to other countries in the same region, and practice their presentations skills. This is a great way to study geography and is adaptable to a classroom or scout groups.
Take a few minutes to explore - you may surprise yourself with a few new discoveries.
Practicing Their Presentation Skills
How to Establish a Passports Club Co-op
- Meet once a month whereby students share a special project they did during the month. Projects could be a lapbook, a dance, a costume, a recipe they tried, a 3-dimensional map they made, a poster of an animal in its native habitat, etc.
- A region of the world will be assigned each month. Students pick their own country to focus on from that region to alleviate the "no books left at the library" situation and repeated information in student reports.
- Families are encouraged to make a meal from their selected country on their own at home. If they feel lead to share a recipe with the group, that would be more than welcome.
- Attendance is not required. Families are free to attend when they can but are not obligated. No pressure.
- A Geography Picture Dictionary is available here as a free download - feel free to use it if you wish.
- As you proceed, students can earn stamps in their 'passport'. Passports are available here as a free download.
